(MENAFN) South Korea's Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs announced that 2,195 cars were recalled in the country by BMW due to a faulty power steering, reported Xinhua News.

The ministry said that the German automaker voluntarily made a recall for the sport utility vehicles (SUVs), which include 1,579 X5 SUVs made between December 11, 2006 and February 19, 2010, in addition to 616 units of X6 SUVs made between April 3, 2008 and February 22, 2010.

It added that defective captive bolts within a fan-belt pulley lead to the loss of power-assisted steering, resulting in dangerous driving conditions.

It is worth noting that owners of the defective cars can contact the service centers operated by BMW Group Korea for a free of charge repair.
