(MENAFN - Arab Times) The Chairman of the General Union of Kuwait Expatriates Office Abdulrahman Al-Ghanem was recently quoted as saying complaints received by the office are related to clear violations of the Labor Law and the exploitation of employees by their employers. He said such complaints are increasing, reports Al-Seyassah.
He added most complaints are related to delay in payment of monthly salaries, holding passports of employees and not allowing employees to transfer their residence permit to other sponsors in addition to other issues. He said such behavior points to the necessity of strict application of the Labor Law No 6/2010 in the Private Sector particularly Article 9 of the law on the establishment of Public Manpower Authority and the cancellation of the sponsorship system that has so many disadvantages and gives a bad image of the country.
Meanwhile, he stressed the system not only contradicts International Labor Organization standards it also contradicts the customs and traditions of the country that is known for its generosity and tolerance.
