(MENAFN - Arab News) Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal yesterday announced the beginning of work on nine model district community development centers in Jeddah and said the new centers would contribute to the government's efforts to enhance citizens' progress and prosperity.

The project will cost SR 56 million.

He commended the late Prince Abdul Majeed for introducing community development centers in Madinah when he was governor of the holy city. "Saudi Arabia is witnessing tremendous development under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah and we are proud of his leadership," he said.

He thanked businessmen for supporting the project, saying it would have a big impact on society. Prince Khaled witnessed the signing of agreements to build five centers.

SEDCO will establish the Eastern Muntazahat District Center, while Hassan Sharbatly Foundation will implement the Waha district center. Bin Ladin Group will build the Marjan district center, Zagzoug Co. the Nahda center and Safa Contracting the Safa2 center. Hassan Sharbatly, Jeddah Holding and Saleh Al-Turki offered to build four more centers in Jamia and Rawda districts.
