Qatar- Qtel plans to cllect USD1b from bond sale

(MENAFN) Qatar Telecom (Qtel) plans to collect USD1 billion from a 10-year bond sale, according to a document released by lead arrangers, reported Arabian Business. The bond, Qtel's first bond market foray in over 2 years, will mature in February 2023, whereas its final price has been set at a spread of between 175-180 basis points over US Treasuries. The telecoms operator has been increasing stakes in its subsidiaries, including a stake in Iraq's Asiacell and Kuwait's Wataniya. Earlier this month, sources told Reuters that Qtel appointed a US multinational banking corporation to advise it on a potential bid for Vivendi's Maroc Telecom.
