Kuwait- Molotov bombs dropped, gunshots fired at 'forces'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Sabah Al-Nasser and Al-Sabahiya areas recently witnessed serious escalation when a number of participants of the night rally marches organized by the annulled majority bloc started firing gunshots and dropping "Molotov" bombs on the Special Forces, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Security sources considered the act as early signs that contradict claims that the disobedience of the annulled majority bloc and their rallies are peaceful. Sources said the marches might take an opposite direction in light of the increasing number of assaults on the securitymen by protestors, especially that the riots began as the demonstrators gathered in the residential areas and started hurling securitymen with stones, bottles and catapults, and blocked the roads using barricades and started fires. Pictures posted on the social networking sites showed misled children, juveniles and youths from the Sabah Al-Nasser and Sabahiya areas carrying tens of Molotov bombs and setting fire to tires and waste containers and blocking roads. The pictures also showed a young man shooting toward the Special Forces with a hunting rifle, and causing serious damage to police vehicles and public and private property. Rioters were also seen using catapults and fireworks to attack the Special Forces, who in turn, confronted them and fired stun grenades and tear gas to disperse them. The officers preferred to withdraw from the residential neighborhoods despite grumbling parents and tens of citizens coming out of their homes and requesting the security forces to take firm action against the rioters and those luring them to the act. Reliable sources disclosed that detectives have monitored the participants of the minor demonstration in the street where a bomb was thrown, and arrested 20 participants and referred them to the General Administration of Criminal Investigations for interrogation to find out those involved in organizing the event and targeting the securitymen with Molotov that caused a minor fire in a neighboring house. Sources added the security systems summoned one of the owners of the houses, where the rioters had gathered and threw the bomb, for interrogation. In another incident that reflects the dangerous culture of chaos and riots perpetrated by the annulled majority bloc, security sources said three securitymen from the security directorate of Ahmadi apprehended a number of demonstrators who launched an assault on public property and threatened residents. The sources said 12 masked people attacked securitymen and tried in vain to release some persons they arrested, thanks to backup forces. On the political level, former MP Dr Waleed Al-Tabtabaei admitted a Molotov bomb was thrown. However, he tried to manipulate incidents as usual and said the person who threw the bomb does not represent the approach to a peaceful movement. At the same time, he accused the authority of lacking wisdom to have used tear gas to disperse peaceful marches.
