(MENAFN- AFP) Budapest's international airport reopened Saturday morning after an electrical fault forced its closure Friday.
"Liszt Ferenc International Airport Budapest Airport reopened Saturday morning at 07:00 local time (06:00 GMT)," Mihaly Hardy, spokesperson for the operator Budapest Airport, said in a statement.
The airport was forced to close Friday at 11:50 am (10:50 GMT) as "the electric supply of the control tower has been impacted by a technical problem," the airport said Friday.
Hardy said 8,600 passengers were originally scheduled to travel on Saturday but, due to disruption caused by closure, only around 6,000 would be able to depart from Budapest.
The airport advised passengers due to travel on Saturday to contact their airline for further information.
Around 80 flights were affected by the closure. Outgoing flights were suspended while incoming ones were diverted to Bratislava in neighbouring Slovakia and to Vienna
