UK's CB maintains interest rate unchanged, at 0.5%

(MENAFN) The Bank of England (BOE) stated that it maintained its benchmark interest rate at 0.5 percent, which has been the same for more that 3 years, reported Xinhua News. The central bank has also decided to stop additional quantitative easing (QE) programs, which total size stands at USD603.75 billion, following an injection of USD80.43 billion that was made in July. The country's economy expanded by 1 percent in the third quarter, with the growth hugely attributed to one extra working day than the second quarter, in addition to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
