Brazil's Petrobras announces new oil discovery


(MENAFN) Brazil's Petrobras announced new oil finding at the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin off the country's northeastern coast, reported Xinhua News. The oil giant said that the discovery was made during the drilling at the Muriu well, located 85 km off the coast of Sergipe state at a depth of 2,583 meters. The company, which in the past 4 months has announced the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves in 3 other wells in the same area, noted that the oil was discovered in excellent quality reservoirs with a thickness of 67 meters. The company will continue monitoring operations before the discovery is formally submitted to the National Petroleum Agency.
