Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan receives government department officials who came to brief him about progress of new development projects in various sectors on Wednesday. (SPA)
(MENAFN - Arab News) Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan was briefed yesterday by officials on the progress of new educational, health, water and sewage projects being implemented in the region at a total cost of SR 6.26 billion.

Muhammad Al-Laheedan, director general of education in Tabuk, said his department was implementing 66 school projects worth SR 645 million. "We have already received 30 projects which were implemented at a cost of SR 240 million," he told the governor.

The department has handed over land for implementing 73 new school building projects at a total cost of SR 295 million.

"We had withdrawn 23 educational projects from contractors last year when they delayed work on them and handed them over to new contractors," Al-Laheedan said.

The governor expressed his hope that the new projects would improve educational facilities for both boys and girls in the region.

Health Affairs Director General Muhammad Ali Al-Tuwailae spoke about new health projects under construction, adding that the new Tima Hospital is ready. "We are now furnishing the hospital and installing medical equipment," he said. It will be opened shortly.

Work on King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Tabuk has been completed, the health director said. Efforts are under way to furnish the hospital. About 98 percent of work on the Dhuba and Amlaj hospitals have been completed and 17 new health centers established, said Al-Tuwailae. "We have shifted 52 health centers to government buildings."

He said the department was carrying out new expansion projects valued at SR 2 billion including at King Khaled Hospital.

Saleh Al-Sharari, director general of water, briefed the governor on the progress of 123 new projects in the sector, saying the new projects would cost more than SR 3 billion.

"We have awarded a number of water projects worth SR 900 million this year," he said. It is worth mentioning that all parts of Tabuk city has been provided with a water and sewage network.
