(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman's No 1 player Azaan al Rumhy came up with a good performance to finish overall 12th in the recently-concluded 32nd Pan-Arab Golf Championship, which was played at the Royal Golf Course in Manama, Bahrain.Azaan returned with scores of 81, 78, 81, 78 over the four days on the 72-hole course for an overall gross score of 318. He missed the top-ten ranking by two strokes in a field of 47 golfers from 13 Arab nations.Bahrain's Nasser Yacoob clinched the individual title with a score of 300, while Saudi Arabia's Khalid Attieh was runner-up with 302.Oman fielded a four-member team in the men's event and also entered a three-member junior team for the first time in the 13th Pan-Arab Juniors Championship, which was held at the same venue.Besides Azaan, his younger brother Hamed al Rumhy, the promising Yusuf al Balushi and the experienced Hussein Dad al Balushi comprised the men's team.The other three golfers, however, failed to impress. Hamed carded 349 (84, 89, 85, 91) to finish 33rd while Hussein Dad's 390 (94, 97, 95, 104) put him on 39th place and Yusuf scored 393 (97, 106, 101, 89) to finish 40th.Azaan also climbed one place up in the nett category rankings, to 11th, while Hamed rose two places to move to 31st. Hussain and Yusuf's placings remained the same in the event, which was won by Libya's Ahmed el Twiri with a score of 292.In the men's team rankings, Morocco topped the championship with a combined total of 921 (only the scores of the best three golfers were accounted for), while Oman ended up ninth (1042).Speaking to Muscat Daily on Monday, Azaan said, ?Personally, it was a satisfying performance. To be No 12 in the Arab world is nice. I had hoped to be among the top ten. My best round was on the second day while playing on front nine, when I carded 37 that included two birdies and an eagle.In the juniors, the Harthy brothers, Hamood and Rashaad, were joined by Fahad al Kitani in the team. Making his debut at the Arab level, 14 year old Hamood showed good confidence to finish at the 20th place in a field of 29 golfers from ten nations. He posted a score of 271 (100, 88, 83).Rashaad (333) and Fahad (334) finished 27th and 28th respectively as the sultanate finished last in the team standings (594).Morocco won the juniors' team and individual titles. Ayoub Lguirati won the individual title (220) and the team won with a total of 452.
