Japan''s new car sales down

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Japan's domestic sales of new vehicles fell 3.3 percent from a year earlier in November, marking the third straight month of decline, data released by an industry body showed Monday. Sales of new cars, trucks and buses totaled 243,974 units, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said. The figures don't include sales of mini cars. By automaker, Toyota Motor Corp.'s sales grew 1.4 percent to 122,021 vehicles, followed by Nissan Motor Co. with 34,649, down 12.2 percent and Honda Motor Co. with 19,549 units, down 40.4 percent. Japan's new car sales fell as a government subsidy program for the purchase of fuel-efficient cars ended in late September. The JPY 300 billion (USD 3.7 billion) subsidy program, which was introduced last December, had provided an allowance of up to about JPY 100,000 (USD 1, 250) for eco-friendly cars.
