UAE marks 41st National Day 

(MENAFN - Arab News) The Seven Emirates of the UAE: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah, Fujairah Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah celebrated their 41st National Day. Six of the emirates gained independence in Dec 1971, while Ras Al Khaimah was the last to join them in 1972.

For this joyful occasion, Dubai Events & Promotions Establishment (DEPE) planned various events and activities across the city.

A digital photo exhibition "Many Faces, One Nation" is taking place in some of the largest shopping malls in Dubai, like Mirdif City Center, Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Center.

The Global Village is also participating on this occasion by creating a union festival including, traditional folk shows, concerts by Emirati singers, shows by Emirati and international dancers, a Ukrainian fire show, fireworks and a parade.

Another parade is taking place at Emaar Boulevard, Downtown on Dec. 2nd from 3 p.m. till 5 p.m.

The Heritage Village, Bur Dubai participated in the festival spirit by taking its visitors for a journey through the history of the UAE, by organizing an exhibition for old cars, a poetry evening, traditional crafts, local bazaar, traditional band shows and a historical photo exhibition.

Children were not forgotten, as various 'customized' events were planned to suit different ages and interests at Children's City. Aiming to reinforce the UAE's union spirit and the children's knowledge of the UAE's culture and traditions, Children's City planned a traditional guest-greeting event.

In addition a photo shoot with falcon was available, a traditional fashion corner and a traditional Emirati mock wedding were all staged. They also hosted a traditional band and organized a 'Spirit of the Union' kids Q&A.
