(MENAFN) Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has unveiled plans to boost services to key cities in the Indian subcontinent, Arabian Business reported.
The airline said it will more than double its flights to the southern Indian city of Kozhikode starting from January 1 2013, bringing total weekly flights to the city to seven.
As for Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka, Etihad plans to service the route with daily flights, bringing total weekly flights to seven, starting from January 2, it added.
The announcement came after it was reported that Etihad was in talks to buy a 24 percent stake in India's Jet Airways in a deal worth USD400 million.
The airline said the additional services will be operated by Airbus A320 aircraft and will almost double capacity on both routes.
