Wasabi Energy deploys water management system at AngloGold mine

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Wasabi Energy (ASX: WAS) will deploy its AquaArmourâ„¢ modular evaporation and algal control system at AngloGold Ashanti's (ASX: AGG, NYSE: AU) 6.4 million ounce Tropicana Gold Mine in Western Australia. AngloGold Ashanti is the third largest gold producer in the world. The system will be used in a water storage at the reverse osmosis water plant at Tropicana, the main supply of water to the site. This is expected to lead to further sales and deployment of the product to the mining sector. AquaArmour â„¢ is scalable and has been independently verified to save 88% of the water that would otherwise be lost to evaporation while inhibiting algal growth by lowering the temperature of the water and minimising ultra violet and visible light penetration by 95%. The system does not react with chemicals like caustic soda, cyanide or highly acidic water nor leach any contaminants to the water surface, making it a sustainable and environmentally safe solution for mining, agriculture, urban and rural water storage. With the majority of Australia's mines located in arid, water stressed areas and the importance of water to the mining process, the mining industry in Australia spent $1.5 billion on water in 2011.
