Amazon fires up Kindle sales on Cyber Monday

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Online retailer Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN) Tuesday said that Cyber Monday was the biggest day ever for Kindle sales worldwide. Cyber Monday is know for retailers offering deals online. The record-breaking sales - exact figures were not released by the company - were likely helped by the online retailer's decision to sell its Kindle Fire for $129. According to Amazon, this promotion became the biggest Cyber Monday deal ever for its website. "Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have held the top 4 spots on the Amazon worldwide best sellers list since launch, and that was before the busiest shopping weekend of the year," Amazon Kindle's vice president Dave Limp said. According to the company, 9 out of the top 10 best-selling products on Amazon worldwide since September 6 were Kindles, Kindle accessories and digital content. Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) remains the leader in the tablet market with the iPad expected to account for 63 per cent of tablet shipments for the year, though down slightly from the 65 per cent share predicted by analysts.
