(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Beach Energy (ASX: BPT) and Senex Energy (ASX: SXY) have discovered a new oil field in the Western Flank of the Cooper Basin.
Wireling logs confirmed that the Spitfire-2 deviated oil exploration well in PEL 104 intersected 6.5 metres of net oil pay in the Birkhead Formation.
It has since been cased and suspended as a future oil producer.
Spitfire-2 was drilled as a follow-up to the Spitfire-1 exploration well, which delivered good oil shows but was plugged and abandoned as uncommercial in February 2012.
The well is located about 2 kilometres west of the producing Growler field in PRL 15, giving it easy access to the Growler to Lycium pipeline that is under construction.
