(MENAFN - Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Vice-President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees, today inaugurated the "Abu Dhabi University Career Fair 2012, in the presence of Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri Chairman of Abu Dhabi University's Executive Board, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, and many of the University's faculty and staff.

Held under Sheikh Nahyan's patronage, in its fourth year, the 2-day career fair hosts 55 of the region's top organizations offering students and graduates more than 600 job and training opportunities from a wide range of industries including: health, petroleum, environment, tourism, hotels, banking, information technology, consulting and real estate, accounting, communications, engineering, commerce and many others who are offering students and graduates career and training opportunities.

Commenting on the importance of the career fair, Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Vice-President of Abu Dhabi University's Board of Trustees explained that the fair embodies the University's keenness in linking its programs with the changing needs of the labor market, and the requirements of the empowerment strategy adopted by the UAE's wise leadership as well as the policy agenda of the Government of Abu Dhabi, and it's Economic Vision 2030.

Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan lauded the University's noble efforts in preparing future generations, especially as the fair coincides coincides with the celebrations the UAE's 41st National Day, which is very special occasion to all of our hearts and a chance to offer our loyalty to our wise leadership presented by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates.

On his part, Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, commended the overwhelming responses that the University has received from representatives of companies who have participated in hopes of attracting ADU's talented and skilled students and graduates. "This year's career fair offers students and graduates over 600 job and training opportunities, which is a significant development from last year's event and this has contributed to the large turnout we witnessed this year", pointed out Dr. Ibrahim.

He added: "Many of our students who visited the fair last year were very fortunate in finding job opportunities with companies and organizations through the career fair. This is a testament to the high quality of our graduates, which can also be confirmed by the continuous increase in the employment rate of Abu Dhabi University's graduates which has reached about 94".

On their participation in the career fair, H.E. Abdulla Saif AL Nuaimi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) said: "ADWEA's goal in the coming period is to implement Emiratisation in 60% of its power plants and desalination plants in Fujairah, Tawela, Shuweihat and Umm Al Nar. To achieve this goal we are working closely with universities to attract national graduates in all fields, especially engineering and technical disciplines, which is also why we have participated in Abu Dhabi University's Career Fair.

Khalid Al Hosani, Human Resources and Administration Manager in Petrofac Emirates explained that the company's participation in the career fair stems from our confidence in quality of Abu Dhabi University's graduates. "Through our participation we're offering students and graduates many job and training opportunities in engineering, business administration, and human resources in the hopes that we are their first choice after graduation", added Al Hosani.

The Career Fair hosts "Etihad Airways" as the diamond sponsor, and "Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority", "Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce", and "Petrofac Emirates" as platinum sponsors.
