Australian construction work rises 1.7%


(MENAFN) The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) stated that in the September quarter, the country's total construction work gained 1.7 percent from the previous quarter, reported Xinhua News. In the period, the seasonally adjusted estimate for total construction work grew to USD53.57 billion, whereas the value rose by 6 percent over the year to the quarter. The agency said that total achieved building work, including homes and non-residential buildings, fell 1.6 percent from the June quarter, whereas total achieved engineering work, including mines, roads, bridges and the like, went up 3.8 percent. It is worth noting that in the September quarter, the average market estimate for the total achieved construction work increased 2 percent.
