Saudi- African housemaid clubbed to death 

(MENAFN - Arab News) Police arrested a Saudi man who clubbed an African housemaid to death in Hamdaniah district in east Jeddah Sunday night.

The suspect also seriously injured his wife with a club during his late night quarrel, Al-Madinah daily reported on Tuesday.

While the wife sustained a broken leg and fingers, another maid locked herself inside a room to escape her employer's angry outburst.

"The police found the fleeing suspect hiding at a friend's house in a place close to Hira Street two hours after the crime was committed," a police source said.

While investigations are underway, the source said the suspect started attacking his wife and two maids without any provocation late in the night. On receiving a heavy blow on her head with a club, the African maid fell and was unconscious. He fled from the scene on finding that one of his victims was dead, the source said.

His mother-in-law, who arrived at the house shortly after the crime, called the police. She came to see her daughter because she had not heard from her over the previous two days. On hearing some strange noise from inside the house and nobody opening the door, the mother-in-law called the suspect's mother and told her that she feared terrible things were happening. Then the man's mother also rushed to the house and started pounding the door.

The suspect opened the door and sped away in his car without telling anyone anything, the source said.
