Japan's gov't to approve USD10.7b 2nd emergency package

(MENAFN) Japanese officials stated that in 2 months, the Cabinet will endorse a USD10.7 billion second emergency stimulus package to enhance economy, reported Xinhua News citing local media Kyodo. The officials said that the government will not issue any new debt and will fund the package with part of the USD11.43 billion in remaining reserve funds under the fiscal 2012 budget. Last month, the Japanese government decided on a similar package, however, its size was limited to USD5.13 billion. It is worth noting that the government's latest move will likely prompt criticism from opposition parties that Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda is trying to draw voters, as it is atypical for a government to carry out economic measures after dissolving the House of Representatives for a general election.
