Oman, India sign MoU to boost air services 

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman and India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday to boost air services between the two countries.The agreement was signed at the end of two-day talks at the premises of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) between aviation authorities of the sultanate and India.\The agreement was signed from the Omani side by Eng Salim bin Nasser al Oufi, CEO of PACA and from the Indian side by Dr P Kumar, assistant undersecretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation.Eng Oufi said that the MoU included an amendment to agreement of regulating air transport services, which was signed between the two countries in 1995.He added that the agreement will lead to an increase in the number of seats offered by airlines from India and Oman to 16,016 per week. ''The sultanate's national carrier will divide these seats into 14 weekly flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai, seven to Bangalore, Calicut, Jaipur, Kochi, Trivandrum and Lucknow, in addition to six weekly flights to Goa.He said that as per the agreement Indian carriers can utilise these rights from different Indian airports to Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport only. ''We also discussed operating a number of flights from India to the upcoming airports in the sultanate once they are ready.''
