Google, ICOA refute USD400m acquisition reports

(MENAFN) Google Inc stated that recent reports about the company buying internet network provider ICOA for USD400 million are totally fake, reported Xinhua News. ICOA, the Wi-Fi provider, also refuted the press release, saying that the firm didn't enter into acquisition talks with any party. Moreover, it stated that it will report the fake press release to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, according to TechCrunch, the technology blog site. A fake press release about the acquisition was originally posted on the online press release distribution site PRWeb; however, it managed to fool a number of US media, including TechCrunch and the Associated Press. It is worth noting that the first news site to report that the acquisition plan was fake is AllThingsD, which cited Google sources.
