(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Fareed al Zadjali was elected chairman of the Oman Basketball Association (OBA) on Sunday after the former vice-chairman received overwhelming support from 22 clubs at the elections.Zadjali bagged 15 votes in a three-way contest for the chairman's post for a four-year term, sweeping past rivals Talal al Rahbi, who managed four votes, and Abdullah al Hadhrami, who garnered three. Habib Macki, the outgoing OBA chief, didn't contest the elections.Zadjali said after victory, ''I thank all the clubs for their support. I am happy with the team I have got for the four years. My responsibilities have increased now and I promise to work harder to meet the challenges we face.''Hisham al Adwani collected 18 votes to be elected as the new vice-chairman. Adwani, who was general-secretary earlier, defeated Rabee'a Auladthani (three votes) and Hanif al Balushi (one).Assad al Hassani was elected as the general-secretary unopposed while Khalid al Yahmadi bagged 16 votes to be elected as the treasurer. He edged out Mohammed al Ghassani (six votes).The five new board members are Ahmed al Rowas (20 votes), Mallalah al Balushi (19), Younus al Zadjali (18), Khalid al Zadjali (18) and Abdullah al Yafeei (15) while Hamad al Jufaili (14) and Suleyam al Rumaidi (6) lost.
