China's production of natural gas grows 6.4% in 10 months 

(MENAFN) China's National Development and Reform Commission announced that in the January-October period, the country's gas production rose 6.4 percent to 87.8 billion cubic meters, reported Xinhua News.

The agency said that the rise is compared with a gain of 6.2 percent posted in the first 9 months of the year.

In October alone, China's natural gas output rose 7.3 percent from a year ago, reaching 8.8 billion cubic meters.

Gas consumption in the first 10 months of the year grew 14.1 percent to 118.7 billion cubic meters, compared with a rise of 13.6 percent in the January-September period.

On the other hand, consumption in October jumped 12.7 percent to 12.4 billion cubic meters.

In the 10-month period, China imported 34.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas, representing an increase of 37.6 percent from a year ago, while the country's natural gas imports climbed 26.4 percent last month from 2011 to 3.9 billion cubic meters.
