Lebanon Eyes Energy Field Independence


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Lebanon is working to ensure the independence of its energy field and avoid the negative effects of regional and global crises, Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil said. He noted $100 million purchases by international oil companies, especially European, of geophysical data of Lebanese territories. According to Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA), the Minister initiated his four-day visit to France with a meeting held in the French Institute of Petroleum (IFP) with senior officials. Discussions also featured new reports on the subject of oil exploration in Lebanon, and the stage of the survey handled. Attendees tackled means of cooperation, especially on the backdrop of Lebanon's new stage in the oil exploration field with the formation of the Petroleum Administration Committee.
