(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Haya Water has awarded the first construction contract in the Al Amerat Water Reuse Project for the installation of sewer and treated effluent pipelines in Amerat Western area. The significant project was awarded to a joint venture comprising The Arab Contractors and National United Engineering & Contracting Co. According to a press release, the 47-month contract, valued at RO28.9mn, will deliver a wide range of services to the sultanate, including 23km of sewers, 7km of treated effluent line installation and 43km of house connections encapsulating 2,900 properties.This project will be handed over to Haya Water in August 2016.The contract was signed at the Haya Water headquarters, at Bait Haya, by H E Eng Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy, chairman of Haya Water, and Hossam Adel Samad Fayed, regional manager, representing the joint venture contractor.H E Harthy, expressed his pleasure during the signing of the contract and remarked that when the works are completed, the residents of Amerat will benefit from a modernised and truly world class waste water network system, and a system which will enable efficient usage of the treated effluent for commercial and irrigation uses.He said that the Al Amerat Water Reuse project is being treated as one of the major and most prestigious projects of the Muscat governorate. The CEO of Haya Water, Eng Hussain Hassan Ali Abdul Hussain, mentioned that the contract is the biggest of the three network construction contracts identified in the project, and when completed, will cater to nearly 2,900 properties in the western area of Amerat.He explained that the waste water network aims at gradually reducing, and finally eliminating, the current complex system of transporting waste water from a property's septic tanks via tankers, thereby benefiting the population, and simplifying the collection of revenues from the various properties. He added that early next year, Haya Water plans to award three more contracts “ two for networks and one for the sewage treatment plant.
