Omani national charred to death in Barka 

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) An Omani national was charred to death and two others were injured in a collision between two cars in Barka on Thursday evening. While posts on local online forums said that drifting led to the accident, an ROP official denied such reports. It said there is no evidence that the drivers of the cars were performing the stunt when the crash happened.The official only identified the deceased as Mazin al Falahi and gave no further details. ''The drivers of the two cars suffered light injuries in the accident, which took place at around 5.45pm on a road between Barka and Musannah. Police, ambulance and civil defence personnel rushed to the accident site after receiving the complaint,'' the official said.According to comments on online forums, the deceased was a resident of Barka north and the accident took place on a coastal road between Sawadi and Hafri in Barka. ''The newly-paved road is not opened for traffic yet and is regularly used for performing drifting stunts by youths in the area,'' said one comment. Another comment said, ''The driver had just stepped out after performing a stunt. The other occupant was still inside when the car was hit by a speeding BMW.''
