UAE- Serial offender jailed again for inhaling glue


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)A 21-year-old Arab man's one-year jail term for abusing an addictive substance was upheld by the Fujairah Court of Appeal on Tuesday. The defendant had a previous criminal record and had been out of prison recently after serving a jail term. As part of the conditions, he had to report periodically to the Anti-Narcotic section of Fujairah Police. On subjecting him to a medical test, he was found to have inhaled glue, a chemical substance that affects and damages brain tissue. The man was referred to the Public Prosecution before which he confessed to the charge and the Court of First Instance convicted sentenced him to one year in jail. He contested the verdict but the appellate court rejected his plea.
