(MENAFN) Spanish Minister of Finance and Public Administrations, Cristobal Monto, stated that last month, the deficit of the central government reached 3.92 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), reported Xinhua News.

Monto noted that the central government's deficit target for the current year is 4.5 percent of GDP, whereas Spain's overall deficit target is 6.3 percent of GDP for the same period.

He stressed that the country is carrying out measures to fight tax evasion, which is playing a major role in lessening the fiscal gap.

It is worth noting that in September, the central government's deficit was at 3.93 percent of GDP.
