Central Electricity Generating Company (CEGCO) launched on 21st October, 2012, its Safety Campaign entitled Safety Is Also Our Responsibility, at its Rehab Gas Turbine Power Station. As part of the Campaign, which will continue until the end of 2012, CEGCO will conduct a number of events and activities at the Company's various plants and locations. The Campaign was launched in the presence of CEGCO COO and Deputy Chairman Eng. Francis Gomez, a number of the Company's top executives, as well as representatives from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Rehab District and a group of Rehab Gas Turbine Power Station employees.
"Launching the Safety Campaign corresponds with the Company's ongoing efforts to elevate safety standards at our different locations. We are pleased with the Company's achievements in terms of policies and procedures related to safety and the environment. As such, we look forward to doubling efforts in terms of enhancing and implementing safety regulations that are on par with international safety and environmental standards. At CEGCO, providing our employees with a safe and comfortable work environment is a top priority," commented Gomez.
In turn, CEGCO CEO Eng. Abdel Fattah Al-Nsour, stated, "The Safety Campaign corresponds with CEGCO's vision to implement the best safety, health and environmental standards and practices. We are committed to ensuring the safety of our employees and providing them with a secure and comfortable work environment. This year, CEGCO has offered employees specialized training programs on occupational health and environmental safety. Such programs provide our employees with information related to health and safety, raise awareness and promote a culture that encourages safety and protecting the environment."
As part of the Campaign, CEGCO showcased several videos on safety in industrial locations and the potential risks of neglecting safety regulations. As part of the scheduled activities, CEGCO disseminated several safety statistics and reports at the Company's different locations covering its progress since the beginning of the year and up until the end of September. CEGCO also highlighted its accomplishments in the area of work-related injuries, and held an open discussion during which the attendees asked questions and offered suggestions on the topic, subsequently enhancing the culture of health and safety amongst Company employees. At the end of the event, CEGCO distributed giveaways amongst the attendees.
