Lebanese singer to dedicate song to Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Lebanese opera singer and composer Hiba Al Kawas who will perform at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) on Thursday will dedicate a song to Oman titled Oman…Oh a song during her show.Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Hiba said, ''I dedicate this song to Oman, the country which I adore because of its civilisation and rich traditional musical history dating back thousands of years.'' She will perform cross-cultural compositions that mix lyrical Eastern melodies with Western orchestral tradition.In the show divided in two halves, Hiba will perform selected poems from the traditional Arabic repertoire of Hassan el Zein, Nada el Hage, Al Hallaj, Hussa, Ounsi el Hagem Abdul Aziz Khoja, Houda Naamani, Zahi Wehbe and Kamal Jumblat. She will be accompanied by the internationally renowned guitarist Jose Maria Gallardo Del Rey and The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, conducted by Karl Sollak. Members of Royal Oman Symphony Orchestras will also take part in the performance.Known as the Grande Dame of Arabic Opera, she was honoured with the Order of Sultan Qaboos for Culture, Science and Arts in 2007. When asked about the honour, Hiba said, ''That honour meant a lot to me because it was given from a person whom I felt is a musician himself. I am glad to perform at ROHM, which is considered as one of the best opera houses in the world.''Her performance will begin at 7.30pm.
