Health departments to inspect women's beauty salons, gyms 

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Muscat Municipality chairman Eng Sultan bin Hamdoon al Harthy has issued an administrative decision transferring the task of supervising women's hairdressing and beauty salons, health centres and gyms to the Departments of Health Affairs in the various directorates-general of Muscat Municipality. Till now, the task was undertaken by the chairman's office.Following the decisions, all health inspectors will be distributed among the different directorates, a press release said. The decision also asks the Department of Health Affairs to coordinate and follow up with the directorates general on taking the required measures for the transfer.It lays down the terms of references, according to which women inspection teams will be required to carry out checks at hairdressing and beauty salons, women's health clubs, fitness centres and gyms and other activities related to women's health. The teams will have a say in the approval of leases of such establishments.The teams will ensure that these establishments adhere to local orders and statutes on public health. They will be authorised to act against violations.The teams will also conduct field research and provide technical and health consultations to customers and owners of establishments, in addition to giving recommendations on efficiency and higher levels of safety, the release added.
