AFESD offers USD 54 mln to Yemen sewage networks


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Yemen and Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) have initialed a USD-54-million agreement for sewage networks in Sanaa. The agreement was inked by Yemeni Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammad Al-Saadi and AFESD Legal Advisor Haseeb Al-Ubaid, the Yemeni Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said in a release here Tuesday. The sum will be used in the bankrolling of the fourth stage of the sewage network projects in the capital, it added. The project is primarily meant to contribute to tackling environmental conditions in some areas in Sanaa. It is part of a program purposed to develop water and sewage utilities in Sanaa, it pointed out. Following the signing ceremony, the Yemeni minister expressed gratitude to the AFESD's contributions to infrastructure and service projects in Yemen. The AFESD official said his fund is willing to continue to provide Yemen with all what it needs, hailing the level of existing cooperation between both sides. The fund had provided Yemen with USD 10 million for the development of Sanaa streets.
