(MENAFN) Russia's Energy Minister, Alexander Novak, announced that his country has the ability to provide the Asia-Pacific with between 10-15 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in 6 years, reported Xinhua News.

Novak said that at the current time, Russian LNG exports to European and Asian markets are between 41-46 million tons.

On the other hand, he noted that gas shipments will drop by 4-5 percent in 2012 from 2011, hampered by the economic slowdown in Europe, and the recommencement of natural gas exports to world markets from Libya.

The minister said that gas exports from his country jumped by 21 billion cubic meters last year from 2010.

It is worth noting that in 2030, Russian gas output could reach 950 billion cubic meters.
