S Korea's Q3 foreign debts up to USD419b: CB


(MENAFN) The Bank of Korea (BOK) announced that during the third quarter, the country's foreign debts rose to USD419.4 billion, reported Xinhua News. The central bank said that the amount represents an increase of USD3.6 billion from the second quarter, attributing the gain to higher external liabilities carried out by local lenders with a long-term maturity. It added that long-term liabilities with a maturity of more than 1 year grew by USD11.7 billion from the previous quarter to USD286.7 billion. On the other hand, short-term debts with a maturity of 1 year or less fell by USD8.1 billion to USD132.6 billion. It is worth noting that in the third quarter, external credit rose by USD17.9 billion to USD526.6 billion.
