Najeeb K Moideen, the organisation member who is spearheading the recycling campaign, said, ''We joined hands with Muscat Daily because they have taken a responsible step to recycle paper and promote an eco-friendly environment.''The drive began two weeks ago and the public response has been overwhelming. We are collecting waste paper from both residential and commercial buildings in 12 different locations from Seeb to Wadi Kabir. The best response has come from residents and commercial establishments in Wadi Kabir and ministries in Al Khuwayr.''He added that the organisation also identifies locations like banks, schools, and corporate offices, malls from where old newspapers and magazines can be collected. The 22-member organisation has designated a volunteer at each place to collect papers for recycling. ''We are confident that we will be able to collect more than ten tonnes of waste paper by month-end.''Our future plans include distributing pamphlets on recycling and keep boxes and bags in malls and other places to collect old newspapers, magazines and notebooks.''
