Saudi- Civil Defense rescues marooned in Madinah 

(MENAFN - Arab News) Heavy rains fell on Madinah Province on Sunday causing power outages and flood damage to many homes in the region.
The city of Madinah and the governorates of Yanbu, Al-Oula, Khaibar, Badr, Al-Hinakiya, Al-Mahd and Wadi Al-Fara were also hit by heavy rainfall.

In Yanbu, the Civil Defense Department received more than 20 reports of power failures and flooding, resulting in five families being relocated to a nearby hotel while teams cleaned up the damage.

The Madinah Civil Defense dealt with more than 40 cases of people trapped by floodwater and successful rescues were made.

The department deployed patrols to monitor the status of flood control networks in the region and be on high alert to deal with emergencies.
Rain fell on most of Rabigh Governorate regions especially the Al-Abwaa area where flooding caused chaos in the town of Mastoura.

Most of the residents had earlier been evacuated but due to flash floods 36 people were rescued by ground crews and General Security Department helicopters.

As a precautionary measure, authorities closed the highway between Rabigh and Yanbu as it was under threat of flooding from the Al-Abwaa Valley.
