Slovak PM Fico seeks owner of lost wallet

(MENAFN- AFP) Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico said Monday he was looking for the owner of a wallet crammed with cash and credit cards he found during his morning jog in the capital Bratislava.

"I found a wallet full of money and credit cards when I was jogging this morning by the Danube river," he told journalists at a press conference.

"The owner can pick up his wallet at the government office," he added.

No sooner did he announce his find than it began generating jokes on social networking sites, with commentators saying a full wallet was a rare find in Slovakia, the eurozone's second-poorest country.

Fico's leftist government has imposed harsh austerity measures to keep public finances on track during the economic crisis.

Slovakia is nevertheless expected to post the eurozone's strongest growth this year with a 2.6-percent expansion in output, while the zone as a whole is tipped to contract by 0.4 percent.
