(MENAFN - Arab Times) The Farwaniya police have arrested an unidentified Syrian man for cheating his countrymen and robbing them of their money taking advantage of the unstable situation inside Syria, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to the security sources, the man advertised with the help of his cell phone that he has contacts and can help those who want to help their families trapped inside Syria.

Following the advertisement, more than 20 Syrian families contacted the man and he allegedly collected from them more than KD 22,000.

The daily added, after receiving the money he closed his cell phone and disappeared.

He was arrested after the victims filed complaints with the Farwaniya Police Station.
