(MENAFN - Arab Times) The processing of transactions in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, particularly in the labor sections, has been delayed due to the shortage of staff and breakdown of the automated system, say sources from the ministry.

Sources revealed one of the affected sections is the Capital Labor Sector which is in charge of files of 40 percent of foreigners in Kuwait. Sources said only 80 employees are assigned in the sector that needs at least 150 workers to ensure smooth flow of work.

The Labor Department for Government Projects/Contracts suffers from the same problem. It usually takes weeks to complete transactions in this department which needs more than 50 employees. Some workers have been requesting for transfer to other administrations due to the lack of incentives in the labor sectors, sources added.

Sources cited as examples the Community Development Administration has 550 employees whose workload is very light, while the Labor Sector in Jahra has more than 500 employees but its building is supposed to accommodate only 100 employees, in addition to Ahmadi which has more than 400 employees.
