S Korean Oct unemployment level down to 2.8%

(MENAFN) Statistics Korea announced that the country's unemployment rate dipped by 0.1 percentage point in October from September, reaching 2.8 percent, reported Xinhua News. The agency said that South Korea's jobless level also fell by 0.1 percentage point from 2011. The agency attributed the slight decline to the notable job creation in the manufacturing sector. The number of unemployed people, those who failed to find work despite job-hunting efforts, was at 718,000 in the month, representing a drop of 18,000 on annual basis. On the other hand, the number of people with jobs grew by 396,000 from a year ago to reach 25,069,000. It is worth noting that in October, unemployment rate among those between the ages of 15 and 29 slipped by 0.2 percentage points from 2011's same period to 6.9 percent.
