Forte Energy begins uranium drilling at Mauritanian prospect

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Forte Energy (ASX: FTE, AIM: FTE) is set to begin a 54-hole, 8,200 metre drilling program today to test the highly prospective areas along strike in the Zednes shear zone to the northwest and the southeast of the A238 uranium prospect in Mauritania. The initiation of the drilling program is a key step in better understanding the extensions to the north and south of the prospect. Forte is targeting a resource update by the end of the March quarter 2013. Results from the recent combined high resolution ground magnetic and radiometric survey confirmed the A238 prospect is structurally controlled within the Zednes shear zone. To the north of the existing A238 prospect the structure continues for over 2 kilometres, near to surface and outcropping. The surveys have also confirmed that the structure extends to the south under quaternary cover for more than 3.5 kilometres. The reverse circulation drilling program began on 12 November testing the extensions to the south of the A238 prospect. The drilling program to the south includes 38 holes, totalling 5,700 metres and is slated for completion in January 2013. Downhole radiometric logging for all of the holes will also be carried out in addition to representative samples being sent for assay. Following completion of the southern drilling, the drill rig will then move to the northeast of the A238 prospect, where 16 holes, totalling 2,500 metres are planned. The drilling program is scheduled to be completed by mid-February 2013.
