(MENAFN- Arab Times) A 16-year-old girl committed suicide by shooting herself in her family's house in Hawally, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Security sources revealed the girl's family was surprised when they heard gunshots from the bathroom.
The father, who is a military man, rushed to see what was happening but he was surprised to see his daughter lying in a pool of blood with his gun beside her. He called police and paramedics who arrived at the scene in record time. However, the girl was already dead. Her remains were referred to Forensics.
Preliminary investigations revealed the girl used her mobile phone camera to take a photo of herself with the gun pointed to her head. Apparently, she took the gun from the safe of her father without the latter's knowledge.
A case was registered and investigations are still ongoing to know what prompted the girl to end her life.
