(MENAFN - Arab News) The Higher Committee for Traffic Safety in Riyadh is embarking on the first stage of its plan to tackle the trouble spots of the city where the accident rate is dangerously above average.

The first stage will determine which streets experience high rates of traffic accidents, monitor volume and flow and analyze what causes the accidents.
Road conditions will be monitored in terms of surface, lighting, traffic signals, and pedestrian interaction.

The first stage will deal with 10 areas in the city: Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Street, Olayya Street, Batha Street, Bilal bin Rabah Street, Fath Makkah Road, Khadija bint Khuwailid Street, Saad bin Abdulrahaman Awwal Street, Shiekh Abdulaziz bin Baz Street, Hair Road, New Kharj Road, Old Kharj Road, and Dairab Road.

The plan is to be implemented by the Higher Commission for Development of Riyadh (HCDR), Riyadh Governorate, the Ministry of Transport, and the Riyadh Traffic Department.
