Jeddah traffic flow eases with opening of two new overpasses 

(MENAFN - Arab News) The completion of two new overpasses is giving Jeddah drivers a reason to cheer and easing traffic congestion on one of the cities busiest roads.

The mayor of Jeddah, Hani bin Aburas, opened the overpass at the intersection of Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz (Tahlia) with Umm Al Qura Street on Monday and traffic is flowing with ease. Construction on the three-lane overpass took two years and cost SR 22 million.

A long awaited overpass on same street intersecting with Prince Majed bin Abdulaziz (Sabaeen) is open in the Tahlia direction only. Work continues on the Sabaeen section.

Another overpass at the intersection of Tahlia Street and Madinah Road at the Macarona intersection is currently under construction.
The completed overpasses mean motorists can drive through Jeddah from north to south in 15 minutes.

New construction is underway on additional overpasses at the intersection of Sari Street and Falaq Square, Dallah Street and Prince Metab Street (Arbaeen), and Abudawood with Andalus Road on Tahlia. Overpasses on the busiest roads are part of the infrastructure development plan to ease traffic congestion in Jeddah at a cost of SR 700 million to the municipality.
