(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Bank muscat announced its support to two more sporting clubs under its Green Sports initiative on Monday. Agreements were signed to green the playing fields of Hai al Dhahir in the wilayats of Quriyat and Khutum in Fanja in the wilayat of Bidbid.The signing ceremony was presided over by H E Shaikh Rashad bin Ahmed al Hinai, Undersecretary in the Ministry of Sports Affairs, and was attended by Waleed al Hashar, the group general manager - corporate services, bank muscat, dignitaries and senior officials.As part of the agreements, the bank will primarily develop green playing fields across Oman and launch community projects targeting the youth, who represent 70 per cent of the sultanate's population.H E Hinai expressed appreciation for bank muscat for motivating and supporting the youth in building a sporting nation. ''This will help in identifying and developing sporting talent, and strengthen sports infrastructure in general and football in particular.''Sports and games are important for youth and the Green Sports initiative creates an environment to develop their talent. We encourage the private sector to take inspiration from the initiative and provide additional support to the country's youth, thereby complementing the government's efforts in this field.''Hashar said, ''The Green Sports initiative is aimed at promoting social responsibility, inspired by the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to help the private sector play a bigger role in community activities and events.''
