(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Morten Mauritzen, president of the ExxonMobil companies in Abu Dhabi, said here Monday the future of millions of people, means of transport, jobs, health care and children's learning will largely count on the role of the government and energy sector in opening new energy supplies.
Addressing the 2012 Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), Mauritzen said energy industry needs fresh and innovative partnerships while governments are required to set out sound policies in order to meet world demand for energy.
The world's population is expected to surge by 25 percent by 2040, thus hiking demand for energy by 30 percent compared to the percentage at present, he added.
To answer energy needs, the energy sector should seek to develop new energy supplies in a sound and safe way and to work for protecting environment for the sake of generations to come, he pointed out.
He went on to say innovation has contributed to enabling the energy sector to revive oil fields and boost production in oil fields.
The multi-disciplinary conference is intended for international and regional oil and gas professionals, who are involved in both the technical and nontechnical functions within the industry.
ADIPEC is world's second largest oil and gas exhibition covering over 33, 000 sqm in Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. Over 45,000 people visited the show in 2010, a growth of 18 percent from 2008, with representation from 91 countries.
This event provides an opportunity to establish direct contact with key industry personnel and network with international experts and leaders in the oil and gas industry.
