(MENAFN - Arab Times) A 24-year Kuwaiti military personnel who worked in the Ministry of Defense was knocked down and killed by his own vehicle driven by his GCC expatriate friend at a camp in Metla'a area.
The accused is said to have fled the scene after the accident and abandoned the victim beneath the wheel. He was later arrested in Sabah Al-Nasser Area and referred to the relevant authority for further investigation.
Security sources said the Operations Room was notified about the incident after the victim had been referred to Jahra Hospital by some other friends.
Acting on information, high ranking officials and security operatives rushed to the hospital and another friend of the victim confirmed he saw the deceased trapped beneath the vehicle. He is said to have called some firemen to help remove the victim and referred him to Jahra Hospital where he died.
In the meantime, investigations led to arrest of the GCC national who confessed going to the camp together with the victim. He claimed the victim had attacked him suddenly and started beating him, but he managed to get away to the driver's seat and accidentally knocked the victim down.
The suspect also claimed he tried in vain to remove his friend from beneath the wheel, with the help of firemen and passersby, and that he had no intention to kill him. A case has since been registered to determine the cause of the quarrel that led to the death.
