Musannah to host 2016 youth worlds 

(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Council voted in favour of Al Musannah Sports City as the venue for the 2016 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship, in Dun Laohgaire, Ireland, on Saturday.The ISAF Council said that the youth worlds will head to Oman subject to a successful visit to the venue and satisfactory contractual arrangements.After the three-day summit, the ISAF's annual conference concluded on Saturday with the announcement of a series of decisions by ISAF president Goran Petersson.A key decision taken was to retain windsurfing at the 2016 Olympics after the ISAF scrapped plans to replace it with kiteboard racing.The council voted in May to introduce kiteboarding in 2016 Brazil - a decision that was re-affirmed in a vote on Friday. But it was overruled by the ISAF's general assembly, which voted on Saturday in favour of reinstating windsurfing.The 2013 edition of the ISAF's annual conference will be held in Muscat from November 7-16.
