(MENAFN) China's Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and French Alcatel-Lucent has won a contract from Egyptian telecoms operator Orascom Telecom (OT) to upgrade its Pakistani unit's (Mobilink) network, Reuters reported.
The five-year deal includes design, purchase, deploy and maintain the next-generation mobile network equipment and supporting services, OT said in a statement.
The upgrade will improve Mobilink's capabilities to boost network efficiency and reduce operating costs, OT said.
The upgrade would also enable the firm to offer 3G services once such licences are issued in Pakistan, OT added.
